THE SEA AND ARCHIPELAGO

There are 58 kilometres of shoreline and 165 islands in Espoo.
In summertime, many islands can be reached by public waterbus.

   A Trip to the Archipelago

58 kilometres of shoreline and 165 islands provide a magnificent setting, both for living and leisure time.

Many of the outer islands have been equipped for the needs of campers and outdoor activities. They have piers, covered cooking facilities and wells. The city provides firewood for these islands and takes care of waste management.

Camping is allowed on the following islands:

  • Stora Herrö
  • Rövargrundet
  • Rövaren
  • Gåsgrund
  • Knapperskär
  • Torra Lövö
  • Bylandet

During the summer, the islands can be reached by waterbus, and thematic guided sea trips provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the archipelago’s fascinating history (guidance in Finnish and in English).

   Archipelago Boat Timetables

The boats will operate between June and August 2006.
